It's probably a codec problem, so try this GSpot utility to figure out the requirements.

What is the error ?
quantumAlpha
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...asp?displang=en

Download the Codec Installation Package. It usually helps if GSpot reveals that it is a WMV file and not another file type with a WMV extension.

when i play the file in windows media player 10 the error is

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."

when i play in gspot, there are a lot of n.a 's in all the boxes

You have selected all the file types in WMP options yeh ?

Tools > Options > File Types > Select All > Appy > Ok.

@dhruv,

I recently came across a WMV file that needed an "Advanced WMP9" codec to play. I downloaded it from Microsoft's site under the name:

WMP9Codecs.exe 1,384 KB

After installing it, the media file played without any problems.

@Tomboy/dhruv: Yeah, that's the Codec Installation Package for WMP that quantumAlpha mentiond earlier.

However, here's the actual download page since his URL wasn't that specific.

downloaded that, same error.... i think i might try to convert it from wmv to mpeg or mpg format....
