That in order to play the music you have to have the license on that pc that is downloaded via the webserver... well i wish i could actually see this working... has anyone seen this on a site as a sample?

i dont want to sign up for a music program to see what they are talking about i just want to view this...and how it works

any help would be great

Well there aren't really DRM samples available as that would defeat the purpose of the content being protected in the first place. However, I'll try to explain it for you.

Now each DRM scheme works a little different, but the basic concept is that you have a password-protected login that is used to sign in to the music service (e.g. Apple's iTunes) and make your selections/purchases which are then downloaded to your computer.

Once you attempt to playback those previously downloaded music files, a playback program that supports such protected content (e.g. Apple's iTunes/QuickTime) checks to see if the associated account has authorized that particular PC for playback rights. If it has, then the file plays back without interruption. If it hasn't, then you're prompted to login to the service and authorize that computer. The service will keep track of which computers have been authorized and will limit their number (e.g. for Apple's iTunes its 5 "devices").

Well I hope that helps explains things for you, and doesn't confused you further. wink.gif
