Help...

The ATI DVD decoder keeps saying that ATI Hardware was not found and setup exits.

WTF! I have an ATI Radeon 9200 PCI video card installed!

Does anyone know how to workaround this? No, don't tell me to email ATI. Last time I did, I never got a response back.

ATI fixed their MMC installer but the DVD installer is still b0rked

- EDIT: Perhaps it's getting conflicted with the onboard ATI RAGE PRO 2X AGP card? I remember with the Catalyst 4.7 (?) release that if there was an older ATI card onboard+disabled, the installers would lock up

Your 9200 would have to be the primary Video card and your bios would have to be set to select PCI first. I am not sure if its possible to set a PCI card as primary when there is an AGP card present. You also have to install the decoder first.

My suggestion would be to pull the AGP card and see if that works.

It's integrated so pulling it out would be bad.
I disabled it in the DevMgmt.Msc but still no go.

A system with Intel onboard video disabled with ATI Radeon 9000 PCI installs fine. Just this one is giving headache.

dell optiplex gx1 - once a PCI video card is detected, AGP onboard is automatically disabled

Ah I see, my mis-read. blushing.gif

You should still diable AGP in bios and set PCI to be loaded first.

ATI just released Catalyst 5.3, you could try that. Also you can't install the ATI multimedia center as it is for AIW.

There is no such option in BIOS.

The drivers install fine.

The new DVD installer 9.06 is causing the problem.

I installed ATI MMC just fine so I don't know what you are implying.

Some new features of ATI's Multimedia Center 8.5/8.6/8.7/8.8, such as EAZYLOOK™, require the use of an ATI REMOTE WONDER™. Support for the REMOTE WONDER™ is not currently available through DELL's Customer Support line. DELL recommends not upgrading to MMC posted on ATI.com. Any update to MMC for Dell Customers would be made available by Dell at http://support.dell.com/.
