Well I've not encountered this problem before, so would you please clarify the exact mail configuration/setup? Is this really going to an Exchange server and, if so, then why does he even have a PST file? Is he doing synchronizations for offline access or what?

I'm guessing they're using cached exchange mode, but I'm with you on the need more info part.

@ XP_2600 If it is using exchange...You might try deleting the .pst file, which should force a rebuild during the next sync.

@Phonics Monkey: Ah yes, 2003's new cached Exchange mode! I've only used 2000, so I'd forgotten that new piece of functionality. wink.gif

@XP_2600: Indeed then, if that is the case after all, I would also recommend the approach Phonics suggested. The default location for that PST being the following:

C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.pst

Especially since the PST file would have remained in place depsite the reinstalls and since it works fine in other contexts.

Well this mail server is not local, its an external mail server its a mail account in the ISP server which we got our connection from, but yes i think they are using exchange but for sure its not connected via exchange account its connected via POP/SMTP so its still need to the pst file, any idea?

Ah! Okay... banghead.gif ...That's the key piece of missing information. The web access works -vs- local doesn't, have nothing to do with each other. We were thinking Exchange OWA, not login to ISP.

Christ man Please do not leave out details like that in the future...

There is a .pst repair tool (scanpst.exe) that comes with office, give that a shot and see if it will repair the pst file.
