Nightwind Hawk
Question--

If I install spyware, adware, and whatever on a virtual machine, can it spread to my computer?

Thanks.
Taco Bell
Theoretically it could Nightwind since such virtual OSes have network access, but it's not probable. Viruses would be much more likey to spread around than spyware.

In either case, a standard antispyware or antivirus scan would pick up the offending items.

The only way it could is via the network. The Virtual OS is all stored in one file (or a few split files), so there's no way it could jump from those files to your computer.

Well if there was an exploit in either of those programs it could happen, thats VERY unlikely though (I mean who's writing VMWare viruses :S) also, disabling network access is easy (in VM atleast). So in short no.

It could happen if you have a shared folder between your V-PC and your machine, but its hard to happen as i think.

Only if you have a Mac... lmao. wink.gif
