Hmm.. Looking for a plugin for Winamp that will scan folders for updates, then automatticly add it to the playlist then sort the file list by path and filename. How I do it now is just create a new playlist and add the whole folder. But now that folder is getting over 300 folders big, and it takes 2-3 minutes to read all the tags.

I know Winamp Library can do this, but I can't stand it. It's too bloated and I don't want all that extra stuff JUST for the folder scanning.

Anyone know of any plugins?

What version of winamp are you running?

Yea, I think that's the one that I am referrring to. I thought there was a shortcut key that you could use to rescan your media folder for new files but upon checking again you can only set it so that it scans the media directory when you start up Winamp or you can set it up to scan the media directory every 120 seconds. You can change this figure. This is all configured via the WATCH tab of the Media Library settings.

I don't think it will do any sorting by default but you can build smart views that will query the media library for all files for example and sort the output I would suspect.

Hrm. Alright. I'll mess with it again (tried a bit last night, wasn't working too well). Actually the sorting thing I could do without, that's a simple 2 click process.

Maybe that'll be a summer coding project. Learn a bit along the way.

I messed with some I found, and they worked, but it reloaded the ENTIRE playlist from the folder (almost 4000 mp3s) so it took the same 2-3 minutes to load. What I was thinking is a bit of a database type backend (maybe XML?) that would just check for new folders, rather then reloading the entire thing.

Okay I see what you mean now. I am not sure what Winamp does. Rescans the files or searches for new files only.
