Yet another release of Firefox.
I guess people don't mind installing a new version every month compared to the monthly security patches for IE. I wonder if people wouldn't bash IE as much if MS said IE 6.0.1 for January and 6.0.2 for the next month etc.
I like IE and can't wait for IE 7.0
Let the bashing of IE begin your firefox lovers
Well, I see your point and the Firefox-Developers saw it, too. Firefox 1.1 will have a greatly improved update system allowing the fast deployment of security-patches as small as a few kilobytes, smaller than any IE-update ever.
And still, you're wrong. On "Patch-Day" Microsoft usually releases
multiple patches for Internet Explorer. Each of them very often more than a megabyte in size, and although I use Firefox I still have to download and apply them because Internet Explorer is so deeply integrated into Windows. And of course, since it is, I have to reboot my computer just to keep a browser secure that I don't even want to use.
And you're seriously complaining about the fact that a "patch" for Firefox right now is about 4.5 mb in size every two month wich can be applied by autoupdate within a minute and without having to reboot anything?
Well, you are right, that's not perfect and that's why it will be improved in Firefox 1.1. But it's still far better than keeping Internet Explorer up to date.
