Full Version: Office 2003 Install Failure

I previously had Office 2003 and Frontage 2003 (separate installs) on my pc with no problem. A couple of days ago I kept getting installer popping up (for Frontpage) when I opened a completely different program. Used windows unistaller cleaner to kill the Frontpage proggie (as was unable to uninstall it in add/remove) but then the Office wouldn't work.

Did a full clean up of the Office install and removed the Office 2003 folder and the Office Updater folder from 'Programs'.

Now when I try and reinstall Office, it keeps coming up at the end with a message that the installation was not successful but doesn't say why or that the installation was ended prematurely due to an error (again unspecified).

Am desperate to get Office back on the PC as I have some important stuff to finish and hand in in the morning. Any suggestions as to what I need to do would be gratefully received.

using the windows uninstall cleaner, see if you can remove any remants of office. then try to re-install.

Office does that. I'm not sure why, but i'd definitely be interested in a solution. It's annoying as hell.

Have done that, nothing is showing as still being there but the install still won't complete successfully.

Remove all temporary files located here:

C:\WINDOWS\Temp

and

Remove the office folders here:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office

Also remove any keys in the registry about office. This may help, worth a shot.

Fixed.

Used regsupreme and jv16 power tools from www.macecraft.com - cleared everything up - office installed no problem.

Thanks to those who tried to help!
