Hello

Ok, so I have a lot of music, and you know sometimes I want to listen to a song and I don't know in what folder it is. I know in itunes once you have your music loaded, you can just type something in search and real quickly you get the results which is awesome for me.

My problem:

I told itunes not to mess with my files (last time it fucked me over).. itunes looks at the my music folder as default (this I am using to test things out) in that folder i had to songs which itunes loaded up right away on first open.. then i added a third song.. nothing happened, i closed and opened itunes and it still didn't acknowledge the 3rd song..

how can i make itunes update itself? or how can i make it update manually?

You can't automatically have it search for all the mp3s on your computer.

I would suggest clearing the Library, then going to File, Add Folder, and just select your Mp3 folder or something.

Maybe do that once a week. Or manually add a song as you dl it. Or, if its being imported off a CD, it will automatically add them to the library

I didn't want it to do it on the computer. I wanted it to update itself as that folder was being updated. but if that's not possible, that's a shame sad.gif.

So, if I manually add the song to the library, would I have two copies of the file?
dkreifus
No...the library is just a list of the song. It links to wherever you have the file. If the file gets moved, the library doesn't work

Kick ass then..

Is there a way to request a feature to apple? That auto update thing (or a button for the program to sync with the folder) would be sweet.

Thank you for all your help. biggrin.gif

edit 2: so i figure it out. I am a fucking dumb ass. I misread one of dk's post.
