Hi

Which edition of Windows is better Windows Xp pro or Windows Media centre 2005 edition..

I want to install one of them on my home pc but not sure which is better....

Is MCE 2005 slower than XP pro?
Illrigger
MCE pretty much IS XP Pro. It has the MCE app and a few apps from the Plus Digital Media Edition built in, and a few network features turned off, but is otherwise XP Pro.

If you aren't going to use the MCE app, go with Pro. MCE uses up resources.

thanks mate

Personally I think MCE is better - it's just XP with a few extra functions. So yeah MCE. Even though I use XP.

Why do you think MCE is better??
Jizzylax
if you are using it for a media center computer, get MCE. if not, get pro. it's that simple.
mank
it's not that simple Jixxylax, some people are saying that MCE is more soild than XP
Singh400
How can that be true, MCE is XP, just a few extras components!
mank
people are saying that it's the way MCE has been improved over xp
which is better... The drivers of MCE is more solid than XP

Well, ONE other difference. You can't join MCE to a domain. It was disabled because MCE is cheaper than Pro and they didn't want corporate clients buying it for workstations tongue.gif

Like everyone else has said..unless you need to join a domain, go with MCE. If you don't want have the MCE stuff running in the background, just disable it after you finish install. I'm running MCE and use it as a DVR...I like it better than Charter's Moxi Box smile.gif

MCE has more specific hardware requirements to.
