myself and a friend have noticed that our ipods are outputting distorted audio, but only on some songs. we both recently upgraded the firmware to the 1.1 (we both have video ipods) and have updated to iTunes 6.02
anyone else noticing this? any solutions?

What headphones are you using?
I don't know what to say -- perhaps your ripping/getting the music in too low of a quality?

i first noticed it using my pair of Koss UR-29 Home Theater headphones (about $50), but it also happens in the supplied earbuds and other headphones ive tried.
Music quality? All my files are at least 128kbps, many are more. It happens while playing podcasts and videos too... Mabye i'll try downgrading to version 1.0 and seeing if it eliminates the problem.

What's the volume on the iPod?
I've heard distorted sound if it gets really loud (almost full bar), but usually it's fine when it's normal. Is it still distorted when you turn the volume down?

no problems with the new firmware and itunes software for my mini
don't use any of the equaliser settings - they're shit and they cause clipping. (audiophiles stay clear of any form of equaliser adjustment anyway - f you need more bass buy better headphoens

Check the file on as many sources as you can- make sure it's not just the file, so make sure that it's just your iPods that do this. If it is, get 'em replaced, they have bad headphone amplifiers.

okay, disabling the EQ fixed some of it, i forgot i had it on

i think the rest of the distortion is the file itself, i'll doublecheck that again
thanks fod!
