I installed a new WD ATA 60GB into a powerbook G4, which previously had a Toshiba 60GB ATA hard disk. Now though, when I tried to install the OS using 10.3.9 DVD, the new hard drive doesn't show up in the System Profiler under ATA devices, only the DVD-Rom does.

you might have to DD the bootsector info onto the new drive off the old one

Nah it was just being stupid.

If I forced it to boot off the DVD, the installer wouldn't see it.
If I let the system do it's own thing, it would boot from the DVD anyway and then see it.

But, alas, I don't have the AC adapter here (home on break from college) so I can't complete the setup, but at least it works.
