Hi, I wanna make an activex control that can be used with the javascript activexobject method, and of course using visual c++ and mfc, not visual basic, is there a way? ermm.gif

why activeX?? its 1) depreciated my ms it self (i think limited functionality in IE7

2) no way to run it on linux comps so making it OS Dependent...

MFC is Windows, why are you even mentioning linux here? You've totally ignored the question and I can't quite see it as being deprecated by MS.

oh i thought i remembered that they wanted the get rid of it, yet the fact still remains that it will not work on all oS, then again, was to busy today, with php, and i saw activeX (and not reading the rest tongue.gif), that i though it was for a site...

my bad...

I think it is for a site... but you do have a point.. almost, not really a linux issue, but so many people use firefox now. It would probably be better to use a java applet or flash based version. You can easily interface flash from JScript.

Sorry I was a little harsh to begin with.. the point is really browser compatability not OS compatability though.

If your going the harder route MaTrIx2002 of C++, instead of VB you may aswell look at Flash, Shockwave or Java 'cause its probably going to work better in a browser with less security issues, like digital signatures etc.

well windows users can install IETABS, heck that way i can use firefox, evn to load windows update.. (and i has the ability to add specific sites tot he ie render mode), though a os/browser independant scripting/programming lanuage should be better
