For some reaosn my icon for C:\ under 'my computer' is gone, the link to the drive is still there so I can still gain access.

Does anyone know a way to get back the C:\ icon??

TIA

You need to re-build your icon cache. You can do this with Microsoft's TweakUI.

Check to make sure you don't have an autorun.inf or whatever in the root of C:\

autorun wouldnt do it, nor would desktop.ini ( sad.gif )
there's a registry setting, but i doubt it got changed, and it doesnt always work

its either a messed up icon cache or a broken shell32.dll file. if rebuilding it in TweakUI doesnt help, then you might wanna run SFC/Scannow

what is SCF/scannow ??
quantumAlpha
if you think your shell32.dll is corrupted, then start>run>"SFC /SCANNOW" and let it go. it replaces not-original windows files with the original copies (this will undo uxtheme patches, tcpip.sys, and so on)
