I am the new owner of a Macbook Pro as well as a MyBook 500GB external HDD. I am unsure about how I should go about partitioning the drive. I'm thinking about 30GB or so for FAT32, a backup partition, and leave the rest for storage.

Most importantly, I am wondering about backups. Does OS X come with a backup program? How much should I give the backup partition for my 100GB internal drive, if I backup the self-installed apps, settings, and important files? Also, which folders would I find the necessary files to backup these with? I'm very new with Mac OS X, so be gentle. biggrin.gif

EDIT: I've decided that it might be easier to just backup the whole HDD. The problem is that I still don't know how much to devote for 100GB or what program to use.

Thanks for the help.
