Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Friday blasted Israel for its attacks against Lebanon and Palestinians, comparing its operations to those of Hitler.

In an interview with Qatar-based Al Jazeera television, Chavez also slammed U.S. backing for Israel, describing Washington as a "Dracula always searching for oil and blood".

"The Israeli offensive against the Palestinians and Lebanon is an aggression that we feel targets us also. It is an unjustified aggression that is being carried out in the style of (Adolf) Hitler, in a Fascist fashion," he said, referring to the leader of Nazi Germany.

"They (Israelis) are doing what Hitler did against the Jews. They are killing innocent children and whole families," he said in the remarks dubbed in Arabic.

On Thursday, Chavez said he ordered the withdrawal of Venezuela's ambassador to Israel in protest.

I'm sorry guys, but I fail to see how any grown person can take this guy for serious.

He just tries to piss of the USA on every occasion he can: he visited Saddam, he made friends with Iran and more recently with Hamas. What foreign policy goal of Venezuela does that serve? It's nothing else them childish schoolground play.

How enormously RIDUCULOUS is it to call America oil thursty, the big dracula, knowing that Venezuela sends over a million barrels a day towards the USA? That is half of their oil-production, and thus half of the annual budget of the country.

A little seriousness never hurts shifty.gif

Yeah, cause the way those Jews snuck into Nazi Germany in UN uniforms and killed a few and kidnapped others. yup, exactly the same. I HATE what is happening in Lebanon and Palestine, but damn if this is the same as The Occupation of Poland, and and systematic extermination of the Jews. The jews in WWII were noncombatant.

Actually, the funny thing is the Jews declared war on Hitler, not the other way around. On 24 March 1933, the Jews of Judea, in the British Empire, who began to BUY land of cultural importance to their ancestry, and established a dominant presence in Jerusalem. The declared war on germany was a demonstrative protest, not a militant action. It was in response to forced marriage protocol, which led to state enforced divorces, and forced sterilizations to preserve "Aryan Blood."

The president and his administration have explicitly fought for a free state, and it is LEBANON who refused the latest UN cease fire. Chavez is a hypocrite. His whole "economic revival" is based on oil and bloody revolution.

hmm, that sounds peculiar. Deny holocaust, and yet acknowledge a wholesale slaughter of women and children that Hitler "did against the Jews". I hate that kids die, and certainly hate that whole familes die, especially when they are passive casualties not involved in conflicts. I lost someone close to me, a distant relative, in this crap. perhaps more people that I will never meet. I still think israel handeled this wrong- but I know why they did, and it was because the trust between Lebanon and Israel was already under stress.

1. Israel should have long ago stepped out of Chebaa farms.
2. When last attacked, Israel should have said "Look, lebanon, hezbollah did this. Help us form a joint intitiative to get them out of the scene, or we consider this unequivocably the actions of Lebanon, and not just hezobllah."

only problem with 2. is that hezbollah immediately lauched missile after missile. that is a threat you can't measure or ignore. I have had a military mind since I left the service over 10 years ago. I pray in thanks I never had to kill, and my time was spent building shelters and education opportunities. I hate that Ravi was told he had hours to leave, and he only had minutes. but I know who made the area he was in a combat zone, and so did he. the people who launched missiles down the street, who had never been welcome in that neighborhood.

Hezbollah went to a Christian neighborhood that had notice to evacuate, launched missiles into Israel, and waited for the airstrikes to kill the Christians. I hate that.

But this is not the same at all. and the US is not in a position to interfere. All we have done is counsel.

nope. not the way it happens. He recalled his ambassador for his safety, and to make sure that the ambassador was ok, because the tide of social opininion would turn if Hezbollah rockets killed their ambassador. If he truly cared and protested, he would send the envoy from Israel in Venezuela back to Israel.

which he has not done, because he needs their business, and he has a demonstrated resentment of countries he needs for his own support. However, his "boliviarianism" has an economic model that has little opportunity for being self-sufficient.

Chavez is about as sane as Ahmadinejad.

These Hitler comparisons are getting a bit old. Not that I agree with what Israel is doing, but Chavez's government is not exactly all warm and fuzzy. It's probably the most represive one in Latin America after Cuba. He managed to stamp opposition with hired thugs a couple of years ago (their existance was not denied, but their relationship to Chavez was). As to economics there, Venezuela's middle class has been mostly destroyed, the rich are still rich (they took their money out of the country) and the poor are still poor.
