I'm going to be giving a presentation for parents and adults on computers, internet safety, phising, etc...

I want to be able to discuss software for parents that they can purchase to keep an eye on their kids. Even though I'm personally not in favor of using it, alot of people are, and I want to be able to provide good reliable answers.

Has anyone used software like this? Any recommendations or suggestions?

There are many such packages, but the only one I know of is one that a co-worker used called "CyberSitter" to do stuff like that.

Windows Vista has a lot of parental controls and monitoring features. Of course it's not released yet, but I still think it would be worth mentioning.

Here's two screenshots from it. The second one shows all of the monitoring capabilities down the left side. The account name that I made for these screenshots is called "User"

There is another program that I know of called Spector. I haven't worked with it much myself, but I helped someone set it up a few years ago. Here's its web site: http://www.spector.com/
Sinbad
laugh.gif I can't remember the one my parents installed when I was younger. But I remember being able to switch a 1 to a 0 in the registry to disable it when I was like.. 12.

Wow..thats a big sell point for vista...

I'm gonna be targetting Windows XP people, and general people who don't know much about computers.

Indeed dk. I noticed the Parental Control options in some of the early Longhorn/Vista builds, but didn't realize how much they had improved/expanded since then.

Well this is a blocker for IE, but I use it for my kids computer.
