Games for Windows - Live beta announcement and invitation!

Are you interested in being part of a select group that is invited to help beta test a new service that lets PC game players connect with their friends on the Xbox through the LIVE gaming network? If you are, please read on.

The registration period for this upcoming beta testing opportunity will only be available for a limited time. To be considered you will need to complete the Games for Windows - Live Beta application survey. Please only submit the survey once.

To fill out the survey:

1. Click here to access the survey.

2. You will be prompted to login with your Windows Live ID if you haven’t already done so.

3. If you have not completed the Connect registration form, you will be presented with the Terms of Use agreement then you will navigate to the Connect registration page. You must agree to the Terms of Use agreement prior to registration.

4. Once you have completed the Connect registration page, you will navigate to the survey page.

5. You must complete all of the questions and submit the survey to be considered.

Those who are selected will be contacted with more details in the coming weeks. All eligible beta participants will be entered in a drawing(s) for prizes.

Said I'm now active, just gotta wait i guess. Wonder if we get free games to test with?

Just for clarification, having the active status is not yet a sign of being selected for the beta. If you look, you'll see the program you are active for is the application process. The connection page clearly says they will contact selected participants in the coming weeks.

Apparently I was accepted for this beta as, the other day. I got an e-mail from MS about it.

Tried testing out the service last night, but for some reason, my Live component wasn't updated during the Bug Bash install and I'm still waiting on a reply to my e-mail for help.

I had no problems with the install or update. I could not connect to the game and then my Computer became bogged down to the point where I did a reset to restart the computer. I provided them with a DXDIAG and my router and network info. I am also waiting for a reply.

I actually had a few unsuccessful installation attempts before it finally completely finished, so maybe I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling the game from scratch.

April 10th Update: I finally got a reply to my e-mail, but was just told to submit the problem as feedback, so I've gone ahead and done that. Now the waiting continues.

Hello Games for Windows - LIVE beta testers,

The Games for Windows - LIVE beta is now over. sort of. We will be leaving the beta site open for another week, and you can continue to play Bug Bash. If you experience issues, or if you haven't yet submitted feedback on an issue you had, please take the time to do it before next Wednesday. Thanks for all the bug reports and suggestions to date. We'll continue to working with people that had issues that we are still investigating. We are very interested in your experience with Bug Bash and we will be reviewing all the feedback we receive.

We are resetting the Bug Bash Leaderboards. If you want prove your bug bashing skills, now is a good time to start your rise to the top! The Leaderboards will also be available for another week.

We will be selecting the sweepstakes winners over the next couple of days and will contact the winners.
