Apple Inc. said Wednesday it has started to ship to U.S. stores its new Apple TV box, a device that lets viewers take music and video stored on a computer and play it on a television set.

Apple TV works through a wireless connection and is touted as delivering entertainment to a TV screen with nearly the same quality as a DVD player.

The box can store up to 50 hours of video, 9,000 songs or 25,000 photos, or a combination of the three formats.

Apple said its suggested retail price for the device is $299.

I watched a demonstration about it on G4 and from what I saw it wasn't really anything special unless they add stuff but I only watched it for a little and from what I saw you needed iTunes and stuff to use it and no High-def...but it does have cool menu's and Theater Trailers...but I'll pass. Don't even have Tivo...I just use a free DVD-R that I have but its broken now...something about disk is dirty and can't be read ...
