Hi guys, i have a problem annoying me so much, here we have a seven floors full of machines every floor have its own switch which connected to floors switch in the 8th floor, i keep getting a problem in the second floor, the machines suddenly loose connectivity and its back to work normally after restarting the switch, i tried to replace the switch but the problem still exist, when i keep pinging in any machine for awhile i notice that some packet drop, any ideas ? and how do you recommend me to do to isolate the problem ?

I think you may have a problem with the cable between the 2 switches. I am not an expert but here is a link to some tools that may help to resolve the problem. http://www.voiptroubleshooter.com/problems/badcable.html

Just for fun...I'd take a look at the other end of the wire. I'm assuming that all floors converge at some point, and at that point there is a switch. switch the 7th floors port with any other floor and see if the problem moves.

If the 7th floor still has issues it's a bad cable.

If the 7th floor does fine & the other floor has issues, then it's a bad port on the (point of convergence) switch.

Simple tests give simple answers, and clear results...I like things simple.

Me too, but sometimes the environment don't help you a lot.
