Full Version: [WIN] Remote controller in Vista

Ok so for Christmas I got myself a new 22'' widescreen monitor, which is great to watch movies.

The thing is, most of the times I lay in my bed at night while watching something and I can't be bothered to get up again in order to turn the computer off when I'm done.

So I dug up two old remote controllers I had around.

One is from an old graphics card and the other one is from a miro pctv card (the COM port one).

My problem is, I got no clue how to make this work under Vista, any help?

Thanks

In order to help you, we would really need to know more about what exactly that is. I mean, I see a serial cable, and... something... from MSI.

You might just want to get something new, like this:

well, sorry for not being more specific.

the com cable got an IR receiver in its' end, you're supposed to plug it in a com port but i haven't got drivers for it. It came with an old pinnacle pctv.

the msi one is to be plugged in the s-video port and it got an IR receiver as well, as you can see, but I got no clue on how to make it work..

Maybe I'll buy a new one like Chugworth suggested. The nail on a stick is tempting tho

Wireless keyboard anyone?
You should be able to keep your wired one at your desk and the other under your bed, cheapo RF keyboards aren't hard to find.
