A friend of mine is having an issue with their computer and it's boggled me like crazy. For him, every browser he tries, seems not to be able to work except for the Built in browser with Ares. What could be the issue? He's running Windows vista.

Basically it wont establish a connection onto any webpage

Sounds like there might be some spyware installed. Anything extra under the in the lan connection besides the normal TCP/IP, QOS and stuff?

Disable IPv6.

Disable IPv6.

Well I dunno about that, if it's happening across all web browsers it's probably not IPv6, especially if it works with the embedded browser. I can clearly say that I have IPv6 enabled on my connection and it does not slow down or disable web browsing. I run Firefox and have never used the IPv6 tweak to turn it off except under Linux when web browsing is slow, not nonexistent. Worth a try though I guess.

Here's a screen shot of a normal wireless connection...

I only say that, because EVERY time I reinstall in Windows Vista, my internet connection NEVER works. Once I disable IPv6, it starts to work again.

It didn't work. I have no idea what could cause this

Weird, driver related maybe?

As a cross check of the system, please do the following:
  1. Open a Command Prompt.
  2. Type "telnet www.microsoft.com 80" (less the quotes).
If there's no connection problem, then the Command Prompt should become blank with a title of "Telnet www.microsoft.com". Otherwise, a kind of connection failed message should appear.
