Verizon Wireless is joining Sprint Nextel Corp. in jumping on the latest craze in the wireless world: little boxes called femtocells that boost cell-phone coverage in subscribers' homes.

"Our plans are to deploy femtocells in 2008," Verizon Wireless' Chief Technology Officer, Tony Melone, said Wednesday at the CTIA Wireless industry show in Las Vegas.

Much is unclear about the plan, including how much Verizon Wireless plans to charge. But Melone said the company was gearing up for a full-fledged rollout.

Sprint is the only other carrier that is conducting more than a small trial with the technology, but it is selling femtocells only in Denver, Indianapolis and Nashville, Tenn.

Femtocells looks great, I hope that they offer them in Europe, at least 3G version of them and 2G also.

that is awesome. you mean i can now get a brian tumor in the comfort my own home without having the cell phone pressed against my head. you think it could make me sterile as a bonus. sign me up if so. banghead.gif

Cell phones don't make brain tumors. The wave length is too long and too fat to make any damage to DNA. But the wave length of 850Mhz is around 18 cm, but the wave length of 900Mhz is around 15 cm. The signal strength is also way to weak to create any damage.

I wear a tin foil hat. But I added a propeller, so it spins away any radiation, as well as government monitoring.

To amplify the signal ?

lol, yea. I hear tin foil hats actually amplify the signals shifty.gif

The propellor spins. It deflects radation, and government tracking signals. It actually deflects the radiation AT the government tracking sources, giving the satellites cancer.

never have i heard something so dumb. the spinner doesnt deflect it confuses the waves that would have entered the brain so they find a better target. i know this to be true because that is what 4 of the five voices in my head told me. the fifth is a mute so he doesn't talk much. sad.gif
