okay in the midst of putting in a new HDD i also deleted my old storage disk ... :/ i just deleted the partition i mean.. and re-created it in windows setup. didnt format it.

i need it back ohmy.gif .. it hasnt been touched since, so is there any way to get the data back? (or some/most of it?)

software? thanks .. im desperate *sigh*
Scott
It's probably lost sad.gif I've done this before by mistake as well. The only thing I can suggest is getting some partitioning software to rewrite the partition info, ie: tell it was NTFS, etc, etc. for example.

Unfortunatly I do not know o fany software off hand that does that. Maybe Partition Magic? I haven't delt with that in awhile sad.gif. Surely someone on here knows how to fix it.

You can definitely recover the data if nothing has overwritten that area of the hard drive. There are many different programs that can recover data from deleted partitions. One that has helped me multiple times is File Scavenger.

Indeed Chug and GetDataBack is another such utility, but not one I've personally used.

By the way Scott, PartitionMagic does NOT have recovery functionality.

spinrite might work...

really depends on how much has been written to it already, and if windows erased the backup partition table...

Ah that's right. You'd think that such a big application like that, it would have "something" in there to fix partition tables. But I guess not haha.

Found this on Google, never used it, but may be worth a look and it's free... to download... ugh http://www.partition-recovery.com/screen.htm

I have many times, and it's never let me down. OnTrack has one that works fairly well also and it's free (sort of) depending on here you get it. One of the hard drive companies (i forget which) has a freely downloadable version that is bundled with their drive utilities.
