I got this little issue bugging me for a while now and can't seem to find the root cause of it.

I have Win2k3 set up as a workstation and everything setup correctly (drivers, programs, etc). D3D was working normally till a week ago. Keep in mind video acceleration is set to max and it *was* working.

Now when I go to the DXdiag program and select Display, I find Direct 3D and AGP Texture Acceleration grayed out and only DirectDraw box is enabled. I have a NV 7600GS and installed the latest drivers to no avail. I tried "uninstalling" and reinstalling DX9.0c and that didn't work as well. I tried turning off write combining as well but that didn't work. FYI, OpenGL works normally.

Other Info: Win2k3 SP2, Asus 945p based mobo, 1GB RAM (1 piece), P4 3.2ghz.

make sure you have hardware acceleration set to full and enable write combining. in troubleshoot tab in the properties of your desktop.

Thanks for the replies smile.gif Still can't find a solution for this. If anyone knows something about it, please post.

If it always worked before, and nothing has changed software/driver wise, have you explored the hardware issue angle?

Graphics chip fan clogged with dust causing it to partially fail? I've seen a melted fan have some interesting side effects.

(Clutching at straws here...) I seem to recall some Mboards having a graphics port driver that if missing would cause that. Did you strip out all the old drivers before installing the latest, or did it work for a while with the latest driver and then stop?

Just tossing some ideas,
