Hey team lol got a question biggrin.gif
is there any software that identifies exact hardware on a comp/laptop
got a laptop here, with no OEM CD or anythin, but sound/lan/gfx drivers are missing and i dont know how to identify the hardware to download the appropriate drivers.

its a HP laptop, i went on their site and looked up drivers for the specific model .. gave me a bunch of %@(&

There are several such system diagnostic apps Hasin, but the main ones that come to mind are EVEREST, Sandra, and System Information for Windows (SIW).

if you have one, a bootable linux CD will work wonders (if you don't want to be bothered downloading any of the above, all good apps btw)

from linux, just run "lspci" (no need to be root or anything)

it'll tell you what each piece of hardware thinks it is

hp.com didnt work? strange, usually their driver download section is pretty good.

if your model number is something like 2105, try 2100. all the series-es share simlar devices. even if they dont have the drivers, they'll usually clue you into some stranger hardware that might exist that windows may not even know about, like an ACPI sensor or thermometer or something...

So how'd you make out Hasin?
