On Wednesday, Mozilla announced next Tuesday, June 17, as "Download Day" for the Firefox 3. The company also released Firefox 3 release candidate 3 as a final step toward full release.

With Firefox 3, Mozilla is attempting to set a Guinness Book of World Records for the largest number of software downloads within a 24-hour period. There is currently no Guinness Book record for that accomplishment.

Firefox 3 includes a new rendering engine, so pages load faster. It also uses fewer system resources, addressing a complaint in earlier versions.

Most of the add-ons have now been updated too, like Ad-Block Plus and Download Helper.

Opera 9.50 was released yesterday, so Firefox 3 should be discontinued and postponed for a version 4 release instead.
There simply is no reason for Firefox's (or any other browsers) existence while Opera is as good as it's always been.

But on the other hand, people seem to fancy Firefox and my post is pretty feeble and useless anyway. Boredom feeds ignorance. (blah blah)

Thanks for the information smile.gif

I like Opera. They have always been very good about web standards. But whenever I start using Opera, I always seem to run into some issue that makes me switch back to something else. Today for example, I downloaded Opera 9.5 and went to Google Maps. Where are Google Map's right-click options? I enabled "Allow script to receive right clicks," and they still don't show up.

FireFox best suits my needs, though I'm not really impressed with FireFox 3. Its new features aren't particularly awesome, despite the horrible name they gave the address bar. I may change to IE8 when it comes out, depending on what new features they put in it. Spell-check without third party add-ons is critical.

I never even knew tehy had a right-click menu, haha.
But yes, things like that can happen with Opera due to the fact that they follow standards (and ensure safety) as much as possible.

At those very few times, I open IE7 and paste the URL.

I am going to try firefox right now.

I would love for it to be as revolutionary as .63 (?) was when it came out. But somehow I don't think it will have enough pazazz to push me off of IE7.

Couldn't agree with you anymore, especially since you're talking about Firefox being discontinued!! It's only the brain dead fanboys that fancy Firefox though. lick.gif

Holy shit dude. I prefer my browser to be unnoticable. I don't know how you can surf like that!!

I have very minimal addons, and I prefer to keep it that way.

I just performed an MD5 file compare on RC3 and the final (UK) and they are both exactly the same!

May be they'll set the record for Most Web Hosting Crashes in a day.

Not bad actually I got into the FTP in less that 10min (without hammering)

Total Downloads = 6,144,264 and still climbing ... not sure what their target was/is but that's gota be a respectable number.
