Greetings
Okay, I'd been holding off on SP1 on a specific client's (extremely mission critical) laptop until the bad driver installers smoke cleared. Finally got it scheduled yesterday & the install went fine. However...

After the final restart Outlook 2k7 (which uses RPC over HTTP to access Exchange 2003) would open, load the users profile, start to connect, and crash. Google shows the Vista SP1/Outlook 2k7/RPC over HTTP combination as "Prone to Failure" ... with of course no suggested solutions.

So I was hoping here may have run across this and a workable solution, or at least some insight as to what is happening (Illrigger - Where are you!).

I have had issues with this as well; the only solution I have found was to take the computer in question onto our campus and configure the client there. Otherwise, I end up with no connectivity. I haven't seen the crash you're having, though.

The crash I'm attributing to 3rd party interaction compounding the initial issue. I didn't have time to try to narow it down (user going back on road...) so I just ripped the SP back out and OL came back to life.

The plan is to flatten the box and start over (eliminating the 3rd party "help"...), but I didn't want to take the long way around to where I was before and end up with with a flakey OL and an end user that's three states away.

Why would configuring the client on (the) campus (LAN) help with the Vista SP1 shenanigans? Initial setup and sync is a must for sure with a 2+GB mailbox but this was a running production machine. ...and I was on their local network plugged into their Gbit backbone.

Is their a logically explainable curable cause for this behavior? Or is this a Hit-or-Miss issue that hasn't been nailed down yet?

...I'm betting on the 2nd one and hoping you'll correct me... wink2.gif
