Evening all, next week i`m thinking of getting an AMD Phenom 9950 and install it in my am2 mobo.
Does anyone know of the differences between am2 and am2+? Does anyone know if it`ll take a performance hit atall of if it`ll work just the same. I`ve put links to my board and the chip and any info would be much appreciated..
Thanks

Here's some information about AM2+:

The processor would perform a bit better if you had an AM2+ mobo, though I'm not sure just how much. I almost considered getting a 9950 myself, but the 140W turned me off to it. I'm waiting to see how AMD's 45nm processors turn out.

Cheers for your reply mate, and i`ve done some extra looking around aswell now and i`ve decided to just wait till AM3 is released so it`ll be a little more future proof. And besides that i`m not a gamer, i mostly use it for authoring so i`ll just wait a little. It seems that the 9950 isn`t all that better than my current 6000+ which is oc`ed to 3.3ghz which isn`t bad as i`ve only seen 3.1ghz max on any oc site that i`ve been on. It`s not a black edition either smile.gif

Oh and before anyone says intel, i had a dual cpu board with p3 1ghz`s a few years back (about 6-7) and had a few problems with it so i turned into an AMD fanboy and have never been able to go back.. weird i know smile.gif
